For the past three months, the majority of weekends I have spent in Palacios at the clinic with Alek instead of returning to our house in Santa Cruz. Every weekend is better than the last simply because of the decreasing amounts of mosquitoes. But the bothersome bugs don't end. Now... it's tick season! I've already found one of my little friends too comfortably nestled on my leg.
Normally Alek has a soccer game Sunday afternoon. This past weekend his team made it to the finals of the league they pay in, though unfortunately they lost 2-0 after dominating the entire game.

Apart from Alek's weekly soccer games, he's even taught me to ride his bike! I'm not too good yet but it's a lot of fun. Better than driving a car!
This past Monday, like every end of the month, Alek walks around to all the houses in Palacios to read how much water they've consumed for their monthly bill. Fortunately for him, I was a willing assistant for the day! I had never seen all of Palacios. And I decided it would be cool for all of you to have a little virtual tour too!
First, the dirt and sandy road from the clinic to Palacios. I run along this most days.
Everywhere in Palacios there are little paths made in the grass like these. The majority of people get around on motorcycle or horseback.

Well there you go. A little peek into where I like while I am working at the clinic. I have never found the city of Santa Cruz too exciting. Palacios is always a lot more calm, pleasant. I would rather stay here.
